World Peace Pagoda and Pumdikot Shiva Statue

Two hilltop landmarks on the ridge above the lake.

The ridge south of Phewa Lake holds two of Pokhara's signature viewpoints. The World Peace Pagoda is a white Japanese-built stupa looking back over the whole valley. A short drive on, the Pumdikot Shiva statue rises 51 metres above a hilltop temple complex, the newest landmark in town and one of the best places to watch the light on the range.

An easy outing by road, lovely in the late afternoon and at sunset.

Getting there

By private vehicle from Lakeside up to the Peace Pagoda, then on to Pumdikot, with a guide. Short walks at each from the parking to the viewpoints.

Is this better at sunrise or sunset?+

Sunset is the classic time, with the light turning on the Annapurnas. Pumdikot is also quiet and atmospheric in the early morning.

Is there much walking?+

Only short walks from the parking at each site. It is an easy outing suitable for all ages.
