Sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna from Poon Hill

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The classic short trek, and the most famous sunrise in Nepal.

Poon Hill is the trek that introduced a lot of people to the Himalaya. Good trails, welcoming villages, rhododendron forest, and a sunrise from the viewpoint that genuinely earns its reputation.

It is not the quietest route, but the days are short and the dawn panorama of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna makes it a fine first trek.

Good to know
How hard is the climb to Ghorepani?+

The stone staircase from Tikhedhunga is a long grind, but there is no altitude issue at these heights.

Will it be busy?+

Poon Hill is popular. We start the dawn climb early for good light and space at the top.
