South of Pokhara the land drops into the Terai, the warm lowland belt along the Indian border. Chitwan National Park is here, with a healthy population of one-horned rhino, plus deer, crocodile, and, for the lucky, tiger.

Two nights gives you a safari drive, a canoe on the Rapti, a guided jungle walk, and a Tharu village evening, all run with park-licensed naturalists.

Getting there

A four to five hour road transfer south into the Terai. How you travel it, shared or private, follows the comfort level you choose. Park transfers and all safari activities are arranged at the lodge.
