Yes. The roads up the Kali Gandaki to Jomsom, Muktinath, and Upper Mustang are unpaved and steep. A genuine 4WD jeep with a mountain driver is the right and safe choice.

Jeep or SUV for Manang?+
The road up the Marsyangdi to Manang is rough and narrow in its upper sections, so the 4WD jeep is the dependable choice. An SUV can manage the lower stretches in good weather, but the jeep is built for the whole way.
