Wildlife safari
Chitwan Jungle Safari
Down to the lowlands for rhino, deer, and maybe a tiger.

A Newari hill town on the old road south, off the tourist map.
Tansen sits on a ridge above the Kali Gandaki, halfway between Pokhara and the plains, an old trading town of steep lanes, carved Newari houses, and metalworkers still hammering by hand. Almost no tourists come, which is much of its charm.
Below the town, the Rani Mahal is a European-style palace built on a river bend in the 1890s, the 'Taj Mahal of Nepal', reached on a walk down through the gorge. Srinagar hill above town gives the whole Himalayan skyline at dawn.
One of several ways to do it. We tailor the days, pace, and stops to you, nothing here is fixed.
The drive south along the Siddhartha Highway to Tansen, an afternoon through the old bazaar, the Bhagawati temple, and the carved lanes, ending with sunset from Srinagar hill above town.
A morning walk down through the gorge to the Rani Mahal palace on the Kali Gandaki, back up to town, then the drive north to Pokhara.
A road trip of around three to four hours south from Pokhara to Tansen. How you travel it, shared or private, follows the comfort level you choose. The town and Srinagar hill are explored on foot.

It is a slow, atmospheric town rather than a checklist of sights. The pleasure is the lanes, the crafts, the Rani Mahal walk, and the mountain sunrise.
A steady descent to the river and back up, around two to three hours in total. We keep an easy pace.
